Dependant Visa

Activities authorized to engage in: Daily activities on the part of the spouse or unmarried minor child of those who stay in Japan with the status of residence mentioned in Employment or Working Visa as well as under Cultural Activities and Student (when studying at university level).

Period of stay: from 3 months up to a maximum of 5 years.

Must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility or read on for alternative procedure.

Dependant Visa

Visa for a legal spouse and/or minor child(-ren) to accompany a member of the family employed in Japan.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. If the employed member of the family is still in Sweden:

    1. Passport (in original with at least two blank visa pages).
    2. Visa Application Form with QR Code PDF, filled in digitally but signed by hand. (Russian nationals and nationals of NIS (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan) should submit 2 Visa Application Forms with photo.) Hand written applications must use the form Visa Application Form without QR code PDF and must be filled out in block letters.
    3. Photo:
      • Taken less than 6 months before the date of application.
      • Both color and black and white photos are accepted.
      • Approximately 45×45 or 35×45 mm.
      • Facing straight to the camera and with white background.
      • Well centered with room above and below the head.
      • Photo quality, without smears or markings and with no shadow over the face.
    4. Passport of the employed member of the family containing a valid working visa for Japan.
    5. Letter of guarantee from the employer, giving full details of the accompanying family members.
    6. Document certifying the personal relation ("personbevis för makar" or "personbevis för familj").
    7. Copy of Swedish residence permit card (if applicable).
  2. If the employed member of the family is already in Japan:

    1. Items listed in 1, 2 and 3 above.
    2. Copy of Resident card.
    3. Letter of guarantee from the employer in Japan, covering all Dependants planning to go to Japan.
    4. Statement from the applicant indicating the reason for joining the employed member of the family in Japan.
    5. Document certifying the personal relationship ("personbevis för makar" or "personbevis för familj").
    6. Copy of Swedish residence permit card (if applicable).
  3. If the spouse is a university student:

    1. Items listed in 1, 2 and 3 above.
    2. (If the student is already living in Japan) Copy of Resident card.
    3. Letter of guarantee from the university in Japan, covering all Dependants planning to go to Japan.
    4. Written statement from the applicant indicating the reason for joining the employed member of the family in Japan.
    5. Document certifying the personal relationship ("personbevis för makar" or "personbevis för familj").
    6. Documents showing that the Student living in Japan can cover all expenses for their dependent spouse or child (also documents showing financial status of the spouse).
    7. Copy of Swedish residence permit card (if applicable).
