Spouse or Child of Japanese National Visa

Personal relationship or status on which the residence is authorized: The spouses of Japanese nationals, the children adopted by Japanese nationals in accordance with the provisions of Article 817-2 of the Civil Code (Law no. 89 of 1896) or those born as the children of Japanese nationals.

Period of stay: 6 months, 1 year, 3 years or 5 years

Applicants should obtain a Certificate of Eligibility. Please note that the procedure given is only a general one and requirements do vary according to nationality. Please contact the Visa and Consular Section directly to avoid confusion and save time.

Spouse of Japanese Visa

Visa for a legal spouse of a Japanese national to accompany that Japanese spouse to Japan. (Legal spouse means husband or wife. The marriage must be registered in the Japanese national's family register, Koseki.)

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Passport (in original with at least two blank visa pages).
  2. Visa Application Form (PDF), filled in digitally but signed by hand. (Russian nationals and nationals of NIS (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan) should submit 2 Visa Application Forms with photo.)
  3. Photo specifications:
    • Taken less than 6 months before the date of application.
    • Both color and black and white photos are accepted.
    • Approximately 35×45 mm.
    • Facing straight to the camera and with white background.
    • Well centered with room above and below the head.
    • Photo quality, without smears or markings and with no shadow over the face.
  4. Certificate of Eligibility (original or printed copy).

Child of Japanese Visa

Visa for a child of a Japanese national to live in Japan.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Passport (in original with at least two blank visa pages).
